Building an Herb Wheel Garden

I worked alongside a local scout/ guide group as they helped build a herb wheel garden at the Ladner Community Garden
I decided to draw up a design which had a herb wheel in a circular shape with five areas for garden with narrow pathways leading to the center.
The group used this cement planter as a focal point and laid bricks around it. I think we will plant sage in the center to give this garden height.
The group used recycled driveway cement pieces to create the outer edges and walls in to the center. More rocks will be needed to complete this. It was great to get the layout done. It was decided to have only four garden areas as adding one more would reduce space for planting.
Here is the layout so far. Space allows a narrow path to access herbs. We hope to complete this herb wheel with soil and plants by mid June. Stay tuned for the completed garden.
Suggested materials:
  • Recycled driveway cement   (free donation)
  • Cement planter   (donated to community garden)
