My husband was in the carpet trade and I noticed these two expired samplers or sample scarves as I've been corrected. They were going to the tip - No Way!!!
Below you can see one very boring bedroom wall.
I decided the smaller of the sample scarves would do for the top of my idea. I just needed to sit and sew on some bunting for extra effect.
Once the bunting was stitched on. I made loops at the to to hang onto my picture hooks. This room had an old fashioned picture rail.
This is how the top looked. I then decided to mount the bottom one onto a rail by inserting rings from an old shower curtain. This I hung along the side of the bed. See below.
We needed more elephants. So in between the two samplers I added a decal of elephants at sundown. See below
I had some elephant door hangers with bells at the bottom. I used one at each end of the top scarf. Finally added a handmade elephant gudri.

Again not the best pic but you should be feeling the elephant power. So much better than that blank wall.

  • 2 out of date carpet samplers. Bunting. Elephant decal and elephant throw   (Carpet samplers disused in the shed.)
