Cardboard Bejeweled Mirror

I made this accent mirror with cardboard and my new favorite metallic paint.....Americana Decor Metallics in Vintage Brass from DecoArt. Love the stuff!
Rolling the cardboard took a while, but it was worth it and I was able to do it while watching a terrific mini-series!
See how easy it is to make here!
Suggested materials:
  • Americana Decor Metallics   (JoAnn's)
  • E-6000 Glue   (Amazon.com)

How did you attach hanger on the back?

What is the gold filigree around the stones...did you create them or where did you purchase them...I have a bunch of similar stones that I wanted to put around a very expensive mirror, but I'm afraid to mess around with something that expensive and possibly screw it up, so I think I will make this a project. Your mirror is striking and sounds easy enough. Thanks!

Loved your project! Thanks for sharing. I will not likely make one though, because I already bought a mirror like it at a thrift store that has multicolored glass pieces instead, no cardboard around them. It still looks great though. If I were to make one similar to this, I think that instead of the cardboard circles, I might use some kind of narrow, decorative notion from the sewing department of my craft store, in gold, or perhaps beads around the jewels, or painted split peas, LOL. This would surely be a fun project. I love the idea of the lightweightness of using the cardboard backing.
