Andrea from Crossroad Creations gave this dresser a beautiful, rustic look with Sage Advice and both natural and antiquing wax!
The newest piece of furniture made by Crossroad Creations is this cute two-drawer dresser that was a custom piece. When we found this dresser we knew that it needed some work, but it turned out that it needed to be completely rebuilt. When you are scouring flea markets, auctions and garage sales for the perfect piece to makeover for your home make sure you take the time to inspect your items thoroughly and only purchase if your skill level will allow you to fix whatever is necessary!
After this piece was brought back to life we decided on a beautiful shade of green called Sage Advice. It is one of my favourite colours because you can really adjust the tone of the paint by using the various finishing products offered by Country Chic Paint, including the different waxes and glazes.
I knew that we were going to replace the top of the dresser with an old piece of barn board, so to keep a rustic finish I used my favourite combination of the natural and antique waxes. I first apply a layer of natural wax, immediately followed by a layer of the antique wax. By doing this, you can take a cloth and wipe off any excess of the dark wax until you achieve the desired effect.
I have been using the Country Chic Paint small wax brush for quite some time, but decided to invest in the large brush and I am so glad I did! The whole process took a lot less time and the wax was so easy to apply. I’m so glad that I now have both sizes so that I can pick and choose depending on what project I’m working on.

After the new top was fastened to the dresser, I chose new hardware for the pulls. This can be the easiest way to update your furniture!

I hope you enjoyed reading about our latest creation! I am thrilled with the results. Happy painting!
