    Aphids and ants do not like mint but mint can be evasive so you may wish to grow it in pots either above ground or buried into the garden soil.

    @Aron Garfinkel when I have aphids I make a dilute mix of Ivory dish soap and water and spray the plants, soaking the underside of the leaves - you may want to cover your eyes as soap can sting. When I noted that I had them on specific plants a couple of years in a row, I hung fly paper by those plants before aphid season began. The aphids are more attracted to the fly paper and couldn't move to the plant. Haven't had to use the fly paper in the past few years.
