Dogs in/out of the garden

Does anyone have any great ideas on how to keep dogs out of my flower gardens? I have lots of gardens around the house, and our daughter brought home her year old dog. Love the dog, but hate the mess she leaves by digging and trampling the gardens. I hate having to be such a hard nose but don't want all the plants destroyed in one summer. I need something pretty easy, organic, and found in the home.
Thanks in advance.

Some people use chicken wire and training, but it will take some time. I hope someone has a faster remedy.

Training is the answer for this problem. At a year, the dog is still basically a puppy. You can pick a spot where you want him/her to go, use a leash and take him/her to that spot. Reward that behavior with lots of praise and pets and an occasional treat. It will take a little while, but the dog will learn that's "their" potty spot. Firmly correct digging in the beds with no in a sharp voice, and move the dog. If this is a large dog, use a leash, until he/she gets the point. Again, always reward the behavior you're looking for with lots of praise and pets. Dogs really just want to please you, so it becomes a win-win situation for both of you. I have 5 Boston Terriers, who are all "diggers" and we were able to train them not to do that.

I'm with Catherine. Training is the answer. This is not something you can "spray away."

Training is what I am trying to do, however, it is the daughter's dog, not mine so she is only there occasionally and the training on her end is not consistent.
