DIY Disc Swing

One disc swing is just not enough with three kids, so I was shell-shocked by the $35 price tag at our local store. An internet search to buy didn't fare much better, but did turn me onto the idea of making my own! So with the inspiration of others who had forged ahead before me....
I just made my own for $7 plus some rope!
Just pick up a one inch thick disc at your local home improvement store...
Drill a hole close to center large enough for your rope to slide through and paint or stain it to your (or your kids) liking. Spraying on a clear coat is also a good idea! The disc we purchased was rather rough and needed sanding.
After tying your rope on a sturdy branch, insert the other end through the hole you drilled. Secure with a double knot, leave a bit of excess and cut off the rest. It's done!
Suggested materials:
  • One inch thick wooden disc   (Lowe's)
  • Half inch rope (440 lb. rating)   (local hardware store)
