Altered World Globe Art

We had one of these globes. A standard, run of the mill inexpensive world globe. It sat in the closet for years unused and forgotten. I had offered it to my children several times, and was turned down every time. Why would they need a globe, that's what the internet is for!
My options were to throw it out, give it away, or change it. I decided to change it and I'm glad I did, it was such a fun project!
First step is to paint the globe. I used black chalkboard paint (affiliate link) for the oceans.
I used Rose Gold Metallic Lustre wax (affiliate link) on the continents. I love this shimmery finishing wax. It has so many uses and can be applied to so many surfaces! I almost stopped right there and just added my fun quote to the black pacific ocean, but I decided to take it a little bit further and paint some fun flowers on the globe too.
I wanted to use the quote "In a world where you can be anything be kind." because it's one of my favorites, and something I want to remember every day. Being kind is so important!
I spray painted the base, and put the globe back together and I just love how it turned out!

I loved the globe repurposed but I have a question did you free hand the country's or could you see outline thru the chalk paint?

Did you remove the equator tape, or just paint over it?

Great idea. I am wondering if it would be possible to paint the black areas in chalkboard paint? With that possibility, then the message could be erased and changed. for example: 'Merry Christmas' or 'Happy Easter.' Thanks.

I would be nervous about painting around the continents, I know it isn't too critical but I have perfectionist tendancies? :D I was thinking that maybe you could use a hot glue gun to keep the oceans/continents separated, and then pull off the glue once the water is painted black; maybe that's too much extra effort..... I might just try this project as it looks amazing!
