Natural Ways to Kill Poison Ivy Without Using Chemicals

Poison ivy can be tenacious when it takes root in the garden. There are a lot of chemicals that treat it but I am always looking for a greener solution.
It turns out there are many options other than chemicals. Unfortunately, most of the remedies will also kill any neighboring plants, so care must be taken with them.
Here are a few natural ways to kill Poison Ivy:
Digging and rooting it out. (most effective but also dangerous for many individuals)
Other less dangerous options, but also less permanent"
Soap Spray Vinegar, detergent and salt spray
Boiling Water
Smother the area where the poison ivy is growing.

I've tried all natural weed killers, but poison ivy defeats them. So we reluctantly used an herbicide.
