Name of Flower?

I had such tremendous help the last time I had a question that I'd like to try this one. I have no idea what this is - it is very "rose" looking but the petals have a waxy look and feel, especially before they completely open so I wondered if it might be in the begonia family. Someone gave it to me but they had no idea what it is. I don't even know whether I can keep it as a house plant?

By the leaves it tells me it's a begonia. Very fragile, aromatic and downright gorgeous flowers.

Yup, maybe a gloxinia, but if those are small flowers they could also be a form of violet.

Gloxinias are in the same family as African Violets. Both have "furry" leaves. Begonias do not have "furry" leaves.

Thanks a bunch, everyone!! No doubt in my mind this is a Gloxinia - I sure hope I can take care of it correctly, but, from what I've read, not sure with my semi-light-green thumb :)

Sorry everyone but this is an African Violet, not a Gloxinia. I have grown many African Violets. Gloxinia flowers are bigger and have a different shape.
