Assemble Your Own Flag

Why buy Old Glory when you probably have stuff around the house to make your own. Now get marching ... and singing!

Frame and Substrate: Old window shutter (minus the slats) , piece of MDF
Mixed Media: old books, building blocks, postage stamp, game pieces, music sheets, random hardware, ruler, license plates, left-over scrapsfrom prior art projects, leather, furniture and architectural remnants
Tools: bandsaw, hammer, nails, wood glue, screws,hand-drill and bits, sand paper, ruler, water-based varnish
Sketch out the 13 stripes, 7 red, 6 white and blue space ---typically 40% of verticle length and 60% of horizontal width. Perfection is not necessary. Lay out your color collections in their designated zones before you start cutting, sanding and attaching.
* Interesting, textured white stuff was actually not as easy to find as one might think.

I just found this and love it. Based on your instructions, we are going to try to make one, except where yours is "distressed, farm", I am into bling, lots of crystals, beads etc. We have the wood and I have painted the white boards, so on our way. Thank you for this great project!
