How To Make A Toile Tablecloth Using Stencils

2 Materials
Although a tablecloth adds a special touch to any dining table, it shouldn't break the bank. A no-sew DIY tablecloth is one of the easiest projects you can tackle. All it takes is a plain white tablecloth, your favorite paint color, and one of our stencil patterns.
Today we're going to share a tutorial to make a stenciled tablecloth using our Secret Garde Toile Allover Stencil.
We'd like to welcome back Shelly, the decor enthusiast and DIYer behind the blog ConfettiStyle. Shelly fell in love with a gorgeous green toile tablecloth on the Neimen Marcus website but unfortunately it was super pricey. She continued her search online for a more budget friendly version but just couldn't find a tablecloth in a pattern she loved and in the right color. That's when Shelly's DIY light bulb went off and she decided stenciling was the perfect option. She said, " They had the perfect toile stencil so I could make my own toile tablecloth and save lots of money." Shelly is talking about our Secret Garde Toile Allover Stencil, a beautiful oriental chinoiserie design.
Shelly purchased a plain white, 100% cotton tablecloth. Then she found a flat surface to complete her project. She placed the Secret Garde Toile Allover Stencil pattern on top of the white tablecloth and used painters tape to hold it in place. Then she painted the toile pattern using dense foam roller and Anita’s Acrylic Paint in Christmas Green. Shelly made sure the she rolled off excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint would have caused her design to bleed.
After the pattern was painted, she would remove the stencil and retape to continue stenciling the entire tablecloth.

After the tablecloth was stenciled, Shelly added canary yellow decorative trim. Are you ready to see how it all turned out? Here is her completed stencil project!
Absolutely stunning! Shelly had this to say about her project, "I’m thrilled with how my Toile Tablecloth turned out and will definitely enjoy using it year round."
The fun accent color and classic pattern adds style and personality to this table.
