    Hi Peggy! There should be a nut of some sort under the base of the lamp. You will need to tighten that. That should fix the problem. You may have to hold the top part of the lamp as you do so, and you can use an adjustable wrench or pliers to tighten it. You can do it!

      Can’t get my hand inside my lamp as it’s too narrow and have to be careful too as it’s ceramic. What can I use to tighten this lamp rod? Got a longer pair of pliers, too big and nit long enough

    Check the socket the bulb is screwed into. If it is "wobbly" the whole lamp will be loose feeling. Replace the socket. Don't try to make it tight.

      Peggy, if you are going to replace the socket you can find one at any hardware store like Home Depot, Lowes, and even Walmart sells them in the hardware dept. They are really inexpensive and easy to install.

    DebraGrieve is correct. There is also a nut that holds the harp -the wire thingy the shade goes on. Make sure that is tight. The base nut and harp nut tighten together. It is a pretty lamp.

    Most of the lamps have two threads , one at the base connecting the bulb and the other thread below where the electrical cord exit , turn them with pliers or tweezers, until they tight. Have fun!!!

    Suggestion: Check where your electrical cord connects to the base of the socket (where the bulb goes) to make sure it is still tight. Re-wiring a lamp is not difficult and the socket and a proper size nut for the bottom of the lamp can be found at the hardware store. If you need only the nut at the bottom, take the entire lamp into the store with you to find the right size nut. If you are not familiar with electrical work, you might want to ask someone to show you how to fix it. A great learning experience!

    Agree with Abigail or if you still aren't sure and have a good rapport with nearby hardware store, they will usually do something like that for you at no charge. Lots of luck and yes, pretty lamp and sorry re: your mom

    Hi Peggy! I start at the base and work my way up, gently wiggling each part to detect any movement. When a part is loose, I gently turn it to the right to make it tighter. I am careful not to use too much force that could harm it. PS. You can fix a broken lamp pole by using a strong and heat-resistant glue called JB Weld. Hope this helps!
