How to cut hole in mason jar lid?

We used the drill but it warps the lid.

      I'm sorry the size of the hole is to put a solar light in. All the other suggestions were great for a small hole.

    Take 2 pieces of wood just slightly larger than the lid ,on 1piece draw around the lid . Now sandwich the lid between the wood with the drawing of the lid on top. Clamp the pieces together and find the middle of the circle on the top piece of wood and drill your hole through the wood .I hope this helps

    yup, I used hammer and nail while the lid was on a block of wood, then a metal shears. I also used a needle nose plyers to curl under any sharp pieces.

    I've done this before by laying the lid on a piece of wood, outside of lid laying on the board, inside of lid face up. takes a second to make the hole, doesn't warp the lid, and laying it on wood keeps the metal part of the lid from sticking out.

    Also, many craft stores sell a variety of lids and rings with holes, slots, etc.
