Question about paint...

Hi there! I have been painting pretty much everything in my house and it is time for my upstairs bathroom. I am wondering if I can use the same paint that I have been for in the bathroom or do I need to buy a special bathroom paint? I have been using a high end Satin finish for the rest of the house as we have 5 kids and everything gets touched with fingerprints and everything else. Our bathroom does have a bath/shower that is used about 1-2times a day but does a have a really good fan in it, if that makes any difference. Thanks for your help and advice!

Most "bath" paints have extra mold protection formulations. You can get a mildewcide additive and "improve" your basic paint. http://www.natlallergy.com/prod/1891/mx-3-complete-mildewcide-paint-additive-inhibit-mold.html

Based on your comments about the number of children and water use, ProTect Painters would recommend you consider using a semi-gloss on the walls in the bath. It will keep more moisture out of the walls (and you should use an exhaust fan too). Be a bit weary of using paints with mold or mildew additives inside a home. Most paint products with these additives are for exterior use. Adding additional VOCs or other chemicals into the interior of a home is not highly recommended.
