My clematis are not doing well, what can I do?

The flowers are not doing well, they are dying. They have little holes.

    Use a horticultural oil on them. Repeat as necessary.

    Actually Clematis produce more flowers in full sun.

    A neighbor friend once told me that clematis like cool feet. Be sure to mulch kindly. The hate rocks. That advice was super helpful for my clematis issues!

    Try incorporating, compost in the soil feeding the plant more neutrients. This year our plant grew fine except there were no flowers :-(

    Are you watering and feeding them,once a week to feed,we have unusualiy hot weather at present so I water every evening,maybe try this and I hope they rejuvenite for you.

    I plant something small at the clamitis feet. I sprinkle with 1/4 cup epson salts, water it into the soil, & cut off the old spent flowers (the plant is using energy on the old flowers). As the plant gets older & stronger the blooms get bigger and bigger. Hope that helps.

    Clematis like full sun but their roots need to be kept cool. I Use rocks to shield them from the sun and I find this works well. My clematis are beautiful this year. I water as needed but go easy of the fertilizer.
  • Insects are probably causing the holes. Get some Neem Oil.
