Cutting garden recommendations?

Each summer I plant a cutting garden to fill my home with flowers all season. Zinnias are the only plants that seem to thrive in the heat and produce long lasting cut flowers. My cone flowers have lots of blooms but wither quickly after cutting. What plants do you recommend for a cutting garden?

Cosmos make a great cut flower and pair wonderfully with zinnias.
  • thank you - I'll give cosmos another try! I planted cosmos seeds this year in the flower patch, but probably a little too late. The plants haven't become as strong as the zinnias and cone flowers quite yet. The bachelor buttons grew like weeds but didn't produce any blooms. I had to cut them back - still holding out hope for them :)

Roses are my favorite...along with yarrow. I planted sweet pea this summer and love, love, love the fragrance. I have recently been using small leaf ivy as filler...it is so pretty and gives the arrangement some shape.
