Sandy Shapes Wall Art

If you're looking for a fun project to make for yourself or with some friends, this DIY Sandy Shapes Wall Art is it! You can easily turn sand into ANY shape with this tutorial!
Begin by tracing shapes of your choice onto cardstock that's been cut to 5" x 7". If you want to use the seahorse, starfish, and anchor shapes I used, you can download the templates for free right here on my blog.
Cut the shapes out with scissors or a utility knife. Then, cover 5" x 7" canvases with double-sided tape. I used totally flat canvases (as opposed to stretched canvases), so the cardstock covered the entire surface (nothing needed to cover the sides).
Press the cardstock onto each canvas.
Sprinkle sand all over the canvas. Press the sand down onto the double sided tape and shake off the excess.
Spray the entire canvas with hairspray. This will help the sand stay together better.
For a decorative touch, cut square dowels to size and attach them to the front of each canvas with permanent mounting tape. Then tie twine or ribbon around the dowels to hang the sandy shape art.
Hang your sandy shape art and enjoy!

Very clever! I was thinking about instead of the wood and rope, I might put it in a distressed picture frame. Thanks!!!
