Bench out of crib?

Marie
by Marie
Ive seen the pics of repurp. A crib into a bench, etc. But they never show how they are fixing the sides of the bench to the back of it. Can someone please show me how that is done, please?

Here's a link to a great tutorial by Gail from @My Repurposed Life that should help you out. If not maybe she'll stop by and answer some questions you might still have. http://www.myrepurposedlife.com/2012/06/repurposed-crib-into-toy-box-bench.html

I have attached the sides to the back many different ways. My favorite (easiest) is using my Kreg Jig Jr (pocket hole jig) It's only $40, and it will change the way you build. Good investment. I have also predrilled pilot holes from front to back (on the headboard) and attached screws (use wood glue) into the sides. you can check out my headboard bench tutorial here: http://bit.ly/I2K8Ha

Thank you Gail for stopping in and helping. I know you'd know what you were doing. Though I've started on bed to bench, Grammyhood got in the way.

There are other versions of the Kreg Jig Maria. Until I did a quick search for you, I didn't realize there were more than just the regular and junior as Gail suggested. That's the one we have too. Check out this link to learn more... http://www.factoryauthorizedoutlet.com/kreg/jigs-and-accessories/

my husband and i go out junking all the time. Probably 2-3 times a week. Ive been grabbing all the stands and side tables i see and cribs. Some of the things people just throw out. lol i have them all in storage until we buy another home. Im always on pinterest, and love the painted tables and such. But i will have to look into the painting effects and teach myself. Thank you all so much
