How To Paint a Front Door

I love the idea of a bright, vibrant, and inviting front door. I thought that the red would go perfectly with our classic ranch home. Here is my step-by-step guide on how to paint a door for a flawless finish.

My house is brick, my shutters are dark green... What color should I paint my front door??

Oh I feel like there are so many options! What are your natural tendencies in colors? What ones are you drawn to over and over? Do you have light or dark brick? What are it's undertones? That can all play into it. Make sure to grab samples to put up next to the brick to see how it looks. You could match your shutters and paint it green. Or go black. I've been liking black door recently. A deep blue could look nice too.

I LOVE the look of this! I'm about to paint my front door, but red has never been one of my favourite colours (mostly because I can't wear it well, LOL). I have the same colour brick as you, and was thinking maybe a burnt orange (because I'm keeping my trim a creamy colour). I'm tempted now to take another look at the reds section of the paint aisle though! Your door looks awesome!

@Rachael Holmes I feel the same way about red! As a red head I stay away from red in my wardrobe but I love it on my door! If you go red I recommend getting a lot of sample cards and putting them next to your brick. Certain reds read very different next to brick. Good luck!
