Earwigs, taking over!

I am just about ready to give up on my flower part of the garden. My hostas are doing well, except now I think I see some fungus (?) on one that is in a pot. But anything with flowers is getting eaten by earwigs..I am overrun, even in pots. I have a moss rose in a pot, and the stems have just about been stripped! My coleus..like a pincushion, If I pick a pot up or move leaves in the ground, they run for the hills, millions of them. Well, not millions, but a horde of them. Such an abundance of those roly poly bugs too! Is this typical of some gardeners, we just get tired of the fight? I am tired! booo hiss
