Protect an outdoor bench from the elements and add character and color.
Colored stain gave the old bench a new look http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/07/restoring-outdoor-bench-with-colored.html
The bench was in bad shape before hand http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/07/restoring-outdoor-bench-with-colored.html
I chose a weather-proofing stain tinted a deep blue http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/07/restoring-outdoor-bench-with-colored.html
The ironwork got a protective coat of rust-proofing spray paint http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/07/restoring-outdoor-bench-with-colored.html
Much prettier AND it's protected from the elements http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/07/restoring-outdoor-bench-with-colored.html

I like this article, but have a couple questions. #1 original wood has been left unprtected for some time. Wondering if this can be restored to keep clear rather than painting. Heavy wood appears to be Oak. #2 Cast Iron has develped a "green" hue..also from exposure, almost like the oxidation on brass or copper. Question is best way to prep for painting, surely this will leech thru the paint... Help ????
