Floral Inspired Decoupaged Image Transfer Dresser

Our Moncton, New Brunswick stockist, Mélanie Paulin of Carte Blanche Upcycled Furniture & Accessories recently created a lovely Image Transfer Dresser that we thought would be a great project to share with you!

When she’s not busy playing with her adorable new French Bulldog, Émile (who was named after the Chalk Paint® color and is the star of his own Instagram account), Mélanie is hard at work creating fun pieces like this one using Annie Sloan products in her shop! Follow along for the how to.
Mélanie started by planning out the spacing for her laser-printed images. You may want to lightly trace the outline of the images with a pencil so you know where to place them later.

She then applied a layer of Annie Sloan Decoupage Glue and Varnish to the front side of the images before carefully placing the them face-down & making sure there were no air bubbles.

After they were fully dry (approximately one hour later), Mélanie used her damp fingers to rub away the paper, revealing perfectly crisp & clear images.

Next, she applied a layer of Annie Sloan Step 1 Craqueleur. Once that was dry (approximately 20 minutes later), Mélanie applied a layer of Annie Sloan Step 2 Craqueleur. For more noticeable cracks, apply the product thickly. Finally, she used a hair dryer to speed up the drying process & help define the cracks. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see an up-close of the crackled effect.

Mélanie used Annie Sloan Soft Wax – Dark to help highlight the cracks, wiping off excess wax with a lint-free cloth.

She then applied a layer of Annie Sloan Soft Wax – Clear to clean things up a bit & help brighten the images, again wiping off excess wax with a lint-free cloth.

We just love the results and how the Dark Soft Wax catches in the small grooves of the crackle. We hope we have inspired you to try something similar on your next project!
