Nautical Bench for Our Cottage

I spent an afternoon converting an old bench and a broken canoe paddle into wonderful nautical decor for my dock.
I picked this bench and broken canoe paddle up at an auction for just a few dollars. Since it needed a coat of paint and my dock needed a seat, I went nautical. It took only a few hours to complete.
Suggested materials:
  • Paint   (Natural twine)
  • Stencil

Thank you so much for the feedback. This is my first project that I've uploaded to the site so I didn't actually take any pictures. :( I can tell you that I just used painters tape for the stripes & a stencil for the words. I used a coffee can and soup can as a template for the life preservers and hand painted them. I added rope to the bottom of the paddle using a non toxic, slow drying adhesive called Weldbond. It dries clear and is durable enough for outdoor use. Everything received two coats of oil based varnish at the end.
