Missouri resident Ellen took a look at the wooded property surrounding her homesite and found design inspiration. She was in the process of building new construction, and she took Mother Nature's suggestions seriously. The result is a bathroom that includes intriguing fixtures, lots of texture and serves as a true reflection of the natural landscape. The design features quite a few tile and flooring products that Ellen used in creative ways.
Ellen turned Belleville Bourbon Wood Look Tile, commonly used as flooring, into wall tiles for the shower stall. Together with the clean palette of gleaming white subway tile, the contrast with the wood look is quite striking.
The 5th Avenue Subway Tile, keeps the shower space from being too dark, and the woodgrain tile is the rustic touch that fits the overall theme of the room. On the floor is a river rock pebble tile that continues the naturalistic approach.
One of the most prominent features in the space is the large, wooden soaking tub bound with metal straps reminiscent of wine barrels. The tub is a showpiece and it rests on an island of the river rock.
The rustic vanity with metal hinges continues the woodsy theme, and more woodgrain tile can be found on the accent wall behind the small vessel sink. Ellen's choice of fixtures, such as the showerhead and lighting, are particularly great fit for her design inspiration.
If you have a project in your future, Ellen advises you to be prepared. "Have a detailed plan on the tile design you are looking for, but be open to installer's experience."
