That will depend of what the stains consist of.

There are cleaners you can buy, but you can also just scrape them off. The glass top is not as fragile as most people think. http://home.howstuffworks.com/home-improvement/household-hints-tips/cleaning-organizing/5-glass-top-stove-cleaning-tips.htm

Ali I have used a razor blade many times and it works well on burnt on residue. I have also tried the dampened the glass top and sprinkled with baking soda and then covered with a damp cloth and let it sit for a while. Hope either of these help you or maybe a combination of the two. Like Julies 1949 said it is not as fragile as you think

I just made this granite cleaner recipe from Pinterest and it worked great on my glass stove top. 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol 3-4 drops of Dawn dish soap Water Add rubbing alcohol and dish soap to spray bottle. Top with water (add water slowly to avoid the dish soap bubbling over). Put the lid on and shake it up. If you don't like the smell of rubbing alcohol, you could add some essential oil. To use, you just spray down your counters and wipe them off. I used a 16.9 oz water bottle and poured out on countertops and swished around. My spray bottle broke and I used what was available. Worked great on my granite and glass stove top. Also, recommend the baking soda as Rae recommends.

Go by the manufactor if it's hard water stains use their cleaner and scraper. I had a pan add my new stove the other day and that stain won't come off. Using salt or home made cleaners you will end up damaging your stove more. Use s razor or scraper their cleaner. I have s brand new stove that a pan arc the glass it won't come clean. Glass is temperamental. We clean for a living and follow manufacturing guidelines. Google the make and product the cleaning guide lines are easy to find.

I like to do things with the least effort possible--by that I mean the lazy way--and the easiest and most effective way I clean my glass top is to sprinkle a heavy amount of Bar Keeper's Friend on the area. Then place a few layers of paper towels on top. Boil water in a glass measuring cup and slowly pour it over the paper towels until they are soaked but not so much that water is running onto your stove top. Let this sit overnight and scrub the next morning with a scrubbing pad made for glass cooktops. This works everytime. If you have a really tough area, you might have to do it a second time, but it is an almost effortless way to clean your dried on spills.
