How We Blended His Rustic and Her Chic In Our Cabin Decor

Our northern Michigan cabin serves two purposes. One as an ultimate man cave hunting retreat and two as a soothing family get-away. It is located in the middle of the woods on a fishing lake where my husband has hunted for years but it is also just a short drive from Lake Michigan and popular resort areas.
So...we could definitely decorate rustic
but not over the top man rustic (I'm not sure what that is but I'm picturing hunting gear everywhere!)
It had to be somewhat refined, neat and cottage-y as well.
Here is what I came up with for a blend.
I like distressed wood boxes and rusty buckets and use them to ORGANIZE.
I tried to re-create the look of a favorite cafe with a brick wall and then I added some chic wall art with birch logs, an old planter box and wine bottles. The light fixture was made from an antique kitchen sifter.
I had a lot of homemade birch accessories that I added around the cabin.
Stacks of old books make it cozy along with antiques. The bright yellow billiard ball was a fun add it for just a little whimsy.
