Welcome Summer! I have to say Summer is definitely one of my favorite seasons to decorate for. Christmas being on the top of my list with it's cozy decoration and scents, but Summer just brings a bright and light feeling to the home. I try to bring in some greenery (mostly faux since I can't keep a plant alive), and some fresh flowers to a pitcher for some freshness.
Our home is a true suburban cookie cutter house. Built in the 80's, we purchased our home 3 years ago. It just screamed 1985! and we still felt that it had tons of potential. I truly believe everything has potential when it comes to design.

Today, our house feels more like a modern farmhouse. With touches of shiplap, barn doors, subway tile, and affordable accessories. The last 3 years have been a constant work in progress and a fun transition for this house of ours. There is nothing greater then enjoying it during the summer months with windows open and smell of the BBQ going.
One of my tips when it comes to decorating, especially small homes is to add dramatic accent walls. I believe every room should have it's ah-ha moment and grab your attention. I have my black chalkboard wall with a white plate gallery wall that is a center of conversation in our Kitchen, and my dining room on the other hand is one dramatic feeling with grasscloth covered walls and a deep taupe chair rail. Larger light fixtures, and eclectic furniture make for a lived in and frugal home.
I keep things mostly neutral with my love for a neutral palette, and of course black and white always works with it's extreme contrast.
My summer touches are mostly less is more, considering I think summer should feel less cluttered. There of course is more to see and more to come over at my blog so be sure to stop on over and follow along.
