5 Garage DIY Projects

When we stopped to look over our completed projects, we realized that many involve the garage! Granted they are all in Steph’s garage (how did that happen) but that’s another story! Here’s a roundup of our favorite DIY projects for the garage.
1. Floor Coating: Rust-Oleum sent us their Rock Solid Metallic Floor Coating to try out. The kit gave the garage a nice finished look and makes for easy clean-up. We did run into a few challenges, which we wrote about in the full post. (visit our website for full post)
2. Plastic Pegboard: Lots of garage owners put up pegboard but it’s usually the large 4x8’ sheets. We didn’t want to deal with large sheets so we used plastic pegboard squares instead. It was an easy install and they are holding up very well. Standard pegboard accessories work.
3. Garage Wall Organization: We purchased and used Rubbermaid’s FastTrack Garage Organization system. It was easy to put up and holds all the tools that can clutter up a garage.
4. DIY Bucket A/C: This was a Pinterest project we’ve had pinned for a while. Because we didn’t want to go to the expense of styrofoam liners, Vicki was on the lookout for the perfect insulated bucket. She found one for $2. We put this together to test it out. It works, but really doesn’t provide a significant amount of cooling.
5. Squeegee: We needed a squeegee when we worked on the garage floor and came up with this one using a rake. It actually uses pipe insulation that we took off Steph’s hot water heater.
Everyone finds DIY materials on their hot water heater right? :)
