Love the look of tie dye, but hate the mess? This easy tie dye shirt is easy to make and virtually mess free. Plus it's a fun project for kids to make and wear all summer long!
My daughter has been wanting to make her own tie dye T-shirt for a long time. In fact, it was one of the things she had on her summer bucket list. But instead of using the traditional dye method, we used permanent markers, instead.
Basically, you take a plain white cotton T-shirt, draw a design with the permanent markers, blend the ink with some rubbing alcohol and let it dry.
We slipped a large piece of cardboard between the shirt so that the ink wouldn't bleed through the layers. And then, my daughter used several colors to make the design. Finally, we used rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to blend the ink in. Just be sure to do this step outside or in a well-ventilated area away from open flames.
When the shirt is dry, it's ready to wear! You can make any design you want, and you can cover the entire shirt or do something a little smaller.

What a great idea! My question was with wash and care? Can these be thrown into the washing machine like any regular shirt?

Great idea! My question has to do with wash and care. Can it be thrown into the washing machine after?
