New Use for a Lonely Chair Part

I made this abstract stained glass piece years ago in order to use up bins of scrap glass that I had just taking up space. I named it Frank because it reminded me of Frank Lloyd Wright's art. But Frank was just hanging out in the window, not really being seen or enjoyed. He needed something....but what?
Frank, lonely in the window
I recently moved into a new house and the previous owner had a whole area of old chairs and various old chair pieces. I spotted this runner that came from a rocking chair and immediately saw potential. I sanded it smoothing all its rough edges and removing any old leftover varnish/stain. Then using Unicorn Spit I started rubbing in various colors. I knew I wanted lots of color because the stained glass piece has lots of color.

I then did the same thing to the other side of the runner. I didn't care if they matched because I figured I could turn it and hang it either way to change things up. I did all the edges of the runner in black.

Once the runner had dried, I put on 3 coats of satin poly. I didn't want it to be too shiny, as it would take away from the beauty that is Frank. I put in a couple of screw eyes and bought some black chain. I found an old iron ring that the previous owner had made and cleaned it up and painted it black. It became the hanger for the final piece.

The next two photos show the piece with plenty of light. I just hung it on my front door so I could take a good picture.

Frank's home.
This is the window where Frank will now hang. I love that the runner fits perfectly in between the molding. Today is overcast so there isn't a lot of light coming through the window.
