Pruning dead blooms

Forgive my ignorance with plants, but, when you prune the dead flowers off of plants, are you supposed to snip just below the head of the flower, or are you supposed to snip the whole stem?

If there are not going to be any more blooms along the stem, Patti, you can remove the whole stem. Otherwise, just snip below the head of the flower.

Thanks Doug! I appreciate the help! As I'm sure you've noticed, I'm a newbie with gardening, outdoors! I love it, just don't know much about it! That's why I love this site!!
