Make A Mirror From A Picture Frame

What do you do when you find an odd size vintage frame at a flea market or yard sale? Learn how to make a mirror out of it in this tutorial.
I found a gorgeous oval bubble glass frame recently but wasn't sure what to put inside of it. Since I love mirrors, I decided to create one by using this frame and the original glass! It has the look now of an antique mirror and at the fraction of the price if you were to purchase one. Here's how to get started...and you'll find more instructions at my blog Shabbyfufu that is linked below.
Obviously you'll need to have a frame with the piece of glass inside. Although I used convex glass it can be done with a standard flat piece of glass as well. You'll need glass paint that comes in a can, vinegar for distressing and the option of some craft paints for giving the glass some texture.
Work outside or in a ventilated area and spray the mirror glass paint on the reverse side of your piece of glass. Don't let it fully dry because you will next want to distress it, so the paint should be tacky to the touch.
I use white household vinegar thinned out with water and spray it on in some areas, as well as drip some on to the paint as shown. This will remove some of the paint with the reaction from the vinegar.
Taking a torn piece of sponge I sparingly added some dabs of brown and black paint to give an aged look to the mirror. If you go the blog linked below it will make more sense with some more photos and additional techniques. Have fun and please visit me at Shabbyfufu for more projects!
