Please name this flower

I picked the seeds out of a garden a few years ago and this is what I have and sure don't know what it is. The woman has long been deceased. It looks frail but it sturdy, blossoms will continue to fill the stem. Any idea w'photo welcomed much.
close up, blossoms, tall, sturdy, blossoms will fill good half of the stalk, no smell, liked by hummingbirds, fine, short, grass like leaves thick on stalk. Grows from seed.

      Will send seeds free, usually have many...in the fall. They are striking!! I do have a 3 more to send out but 4 will be easy. :)

    It looks like a kind of Liatris. Good resource for you may be South Dakota extension service website www.sdstate.edu/sdsuextension/index.cfm. There is also a group called Seed Saver Exchange which is a nonprofit dedicated to saving America's heirloom seeds located in Iowa.     Liatris had different leaves and the colors are pink,white and lavender.

    I believe it is in the Liatris family. Hummingbird love this type of trumpet flower.

    This is a great perennial that needs very little water. My Granny called it 'standing cypress.'

    Scarlet Gilia would be an alternate name for 'standing cypress'. They are very easy to grow and self seed freely.
