What can I do with my grandmas old travel case?

It is from the 1930's. Should I restore it, up cycle it, hmmmm? I don't plan to use it as a travel case, but don't want to toss it either.

If you add some legs it would make an awesome side table. You could also attach it to a wall, add some shelves and it would look lovely as a little cupboard perhaps in the bathroom.

I like the idea of putting legs on to it. As you have a meditation space, I would use it to store all your little bits and pieces, kind of like a meditation memory box. I think it is a beautiful piece, and something that you can cherish for years to come.

You could use it in two ways: 1) In the bathroom with rolled towels, sponges and spa products, 2) in a guest room as a comfort/welcome kit with magazines, maps, snacks, toiletries, candle, etc.

As a crocheter, I love containers all over my house with balls of yarn in them. I would put a box inside upside down so that just the top row of yarn balls show.

I see your love for flowers. Why not put pretty fake plants/flowers & use it as a decorative element in you home.

I have a case like that and turned it into a n embellished, totally girly, toolbox to keep in the kitchen for little jobs so I don't have to run down to the basement.

I have two cases belonging to me and my mom when we were traveling the world when Dad was in the military. I have them in my craft room organized with paints in one and punches in the other. I treat the outside with jergen hand lotion to keep the outside from drying out. They look great open or closed. I say use it. The ideas above are great. Loved the bathroom idea.

I think what you need to do to read all I wrote is to click on the three blue dots at the end. I use jergens on lots of things like my camera cases, shoes, brief cases, etc. to clean and nourish the coverings.

use it as a keepsake holder, put scarves, gloves, handkerchief, jewelry, leave it open and hang some over the side and some over the top and make it a conversation piece. Would be cute on a table in an entrance or on a hearth and bring back memories of your grandmother.

I would put lots of travel stickers on the outside , perhaps from places she visited, and put any keepsakes you were lucky enough to inherit on the inside as a memorial to her. Her great, great grandchildren would treasure it.

I have something similar, but not as old or as big. I got jewelry trays that fit perfectly into the box and layered the boxes. I now use it as a jewelry case where I can have a [lace for earrings and pins and bracelets.

I would add legs and use as a night stand or add some cup hooks inside and hang it sideways on the wall or add thin, tall legs for a jewelry armoire. You could also use as make up storage in a bathroom.
