Patriotic Checkered Flag

3 Materials
Here's a fast and easy patriotic project using a 4x6 canvas, basket tray liners and Mod Podge.
The idea for a patriotic birdhouse came to me when I spotted these basket tray liners at Dollar Daze. Since I was one of the few people in America who hadn't already used Mod Podge, I thought it was wise to experiment first by making a checkered flag on a 4x6 canvas that I already had in my craft stash.
I cut out the blue square first - trimming the corner to fold over the edge of the canvas. I then cut out the red and trimmed 3 corners to fold over the edges.
Break out the Mod Podge! I started with the blue corner - painting on a thin layer of Mod Podge with a foam brush - and then adhered the blue checkered paper. After that, I moved on to the red. When everything was in place, I allowed it to dry a bit. I then painted a thin layer of Mod Podge over the entire top and sides of the canvas.
I applied a second coat after the first coat was thoroughly dry. There you have it - my checkered flag - without a Nascar track anywhere near here!
