Solar Dyeing Yarn With Kool-Aid to Achieve That Kettle Dyed Look

This is a tutorial showing how to take natural fiber (wool or silk) undyed yarn and dying it with Kool Aid in the sun. By using similar colored Kool-Aid you can achieve that gorgeous tone on tone kettle dyed look
Achieve this gorgeous tone on tone kettle dyed yarn with Kool Aid and the sun!
Choose two Kool Aid flavors that result in the same color beverage. I chose two flavors that create blue Kool Aid and two flavors that create orange Kool Aid
Start with undyed protein based (i.e. wool or silk) yarn and soak it in plain water
Sprinkle one packet of each flavor of Kool Aid onto the soaked yarn and set in the sun. When the water is clear, repeat on the other side.
Hang the dyed yarn to dry.
