Lavender, Apple Cider, Rubbing Alcohol, HOME-MADE Soap. Just to name a few. xo
I used to own a bakery and in the early fall they would swarm the bakery cases. I used a clear glass or mason jar, put a banana peel in the jar and then covered the jar with clear plastic. Once you secure it on then poke tiny holes in the top. They will smell their way in, but cannot find their way out. Try it! You will be surprised!
Try this link: http://www.hometalk.com/search?filter=fruit+flies. There are some great solutions.
Be careful with Vinegar because it will kill a lot of plants. For misquotes, we use a mixture of half and half lemon flavored ammonia and lemon flavored dish-washing liquid...put in sprayer and spray until no more bubbles and then refill. Be sure and spray underneath bushes. We spray every week for 3 weeks and then about every other week for a month and then once a month. This may work on fruit flies. Worth a try! Some folks do not like any chemicals but sometimes you just have to use them!
We made little traps like this one. http://www.theidearoom.net/2009/09/fruit-fly-trap.html
They work beautifully. Only we used cheap wine instead of a piece of fruit.
