DIY Phone Charger and Photo Display

Make this easy phone charger & photo display with just a few pieces of scrap wood. It is super functional and holds up your phone while it is charging and what is cuter than having your favorite people to look at. You get to see their faces every time you glance at the phone - which we all know happens a lot ;)
It was a super easy and quick project and took me exactly 23 minutes to make from start to finish. Yes, I timed it... I am dork like that!! The best part is that it is made from scrap wood and the only thing I had to buy was the clip for holding the picture.

I started with a bunch of scrap wood. 1" x 12" board cut at 10", 2 pieces of 1" x 2" board cut at 1.5" and 1" x 2" cut at 5"
Attach the 5" piece as a backstand. I made pocket holes and attached it 1" above the bottom of the 1" x 12". If you do not have a pocket hole jig, you could simply use countersink wood screws from the front and fill the holes. Or you could even nail it.
Attach the two 1" x 2" for the phone rest on the front using wood glue and screws from the back. keep a spacing of 1" between them to allow for the charging cord to go through. That's it for the woodworking part!
Lightly sand your piece and finish it using your choice of stain or paint. I used weathered grey stain followed by a whitewash with thinned white paint and used silver paint pen for the lines.
Super glue a (affiliate link) mini hinged clip to hold the picture and we are done!
Add your favorite picture or a pretty inspirational quote to have at your desk! I love how it turned out and its so easy to make. It makes a great gift for anyone - and they will never know it was made from scrap wood. Visit my blog post for all the sources! Perfect. I think I will try wood glue and clamps when I make mine. 😂
