Stephanie from Crafting in the Rain used Vanilla Frosting, Perfection, a Beeswax Distressing Bar, and Natural Wax to complete this beautifully bold dresser for her daughter’s bedroom!
This fabulous purple dresser is the vision of my 12 year old daughter. Several months ago I showed her the sample page on the Country Chic Paint website. She fell in love with the Perfection over Vanilla Frosting combo. So I set out looking for the perfect dresser and found this one on Craigslist. I knew the curvy lines and ridges would be an awesome match for the paints.
The piece needed a bit of prep work, like filling some holes so it could get new hardware, removing the decorative swirl on the front, and sanding down some uneven places in the previous finish it had. I loved that my daughter and I were able to work on the dresser together!
2 coats of Vanilla Frosting went on all the areas we were going to distress later. We didn’t paint the entire dresser. After it was dry, I took the Beeswax bar and rubbed it on all the places that we’d painted. This would make it easier to rub the purple paint off.
Next came 2 coats of Perfection. Distressing was easy, and I simply used a wet washcloth to rub away the purple paint where we wanted the white to show through.
I applied natural wax to the whole piece and buffed it to a beautiful satin finish with a cloth.
The icing on the cake was the new hardware! I used white ceramic knobs and white ceramic/pewter pulls, both from D Lawless Hardware. Don’t you just love them! What do you think of our new purple dresser?
