I hope you’re as excited for the summer as I am! The season has started where we live so I’m sharing my new DIY citronella candles made with coconut shells – to ward off any mosquitos trying to put a damper on your summer nights!I always keep citronella candles on hand to keep the mosquitos away because they seem particularly attracted to my freckles… In the spirit of upcycling, I tried making my own by recycling some containers I salvaged, which turned out to be coconut shells!Find the detailed step-by-step here!
We don't know what it is about tree stumps that we love so much - maybe the natural texture, the joy of reusing materials, or the fact that they're completely free. Whatever the reason, we LOVE them, and we know you do too, which is why we collected some inspiring and crazy cool pictures of tree stump upcycles that you'd better not miss! 1. Tree Stump Planter
One of my favourite places in the summer is the outdoor sofa in my back garden. When l get 10mins to myself I love to just lounge on it sipping cocktails and flicking through interiors magazines. I even have an upcycled cocktail window. My sofa is an Ikea Ammero which has lasted really well considering it's had to put up with the unpredictable British weather for 7 years. However even though I store away the cushions in the winter they were looking rather grubby and ready for a refresh.
I fell in love with a large wire bakery basket a friend scored at an estate sale. When my friend ended up giving it to me, I had no idea it would turn into such a fun part of our outdoor space. This wire basket has been transformed into a usable piece of furniture in our outdoor courtyard/room with the addition of an upholstered top. I picked an outdoor fabric from Online Fabric Store by Premier Prints in a yellow polka dot. This fun fabric took our courtyard fireplace area from blah to fabulous. Bring on the warm weather and roasted marshmallows with the family!
This is a fun virtually free craft for anyone to make and this bunch of flowers would make a lovely handmade gift. I love flower crafts as I think they make wonderful decorations. One of the most popular crafts on my site is my beautiful map roses (see them here). This time I have made a doodled flower decoration.
Creating a hanging basket filled with zonal geraniums accented with Diamond Frost is easier than you might think! Let me show you how! While I was back in Illinois earlier this month, I made a visit to my favorite Amish greenhouse. I couldn’t resist purchasing a few zonal geraniums & a couple of pots of Proven Winners Diamond Frost! I thought they would be perfect potted up as a hanging basket as a hostess gift for one of my childhood friends.
Come see my old wooden TV cabinet makeover. This project turned out SO good and it is the perfect DIY toy storage cabinet for decluttering!
Raised garden beds seem to be the in thing in gardening these days and there are lots of options out there to purchase but they are pricey . A 4x4 bed averages around $50, and let's face it that's not alot of space for a garden. My mom wanted to expand her raised bed this year and after searching for decent size ones and not finding any reasonably priced I decided to make my own. I remembered seeing roofing panels a lifetime ago when you could actually go into a store... Still not open here in Ontario Canada. Anyhow at the time I thought that would make an awesome raised bed. So I did some online shopping/ curbside pickup and got me a some roofing panels.
I always wanted those gorgeous mirrored tray but they were a little bit expensive in my sense to get one when you can make your own. I had an round tray stored in my garage for ever and i didn’t know what to do with it. I was thinking how to upcycle it without to much effort and expanses. I found in my diy project basket several unused mosaic mirrored tile that I used in one of my previous project. And the idea came to my mind to make a cute vanity or coffee table decorative tray. I went to hobby lobby and bought a 10 inches round mirror and added some more mosaic mirrored tiles to finish up the tray.keep in mind that a wood or plastic tray will work better. I used an upholstered leather tray and that was a headache. The spongy and leathery surface didn’t really helped me to glue the small tiles on it. They slipped very easily and I had to hold them for 5 seconds befor I glue the next one. Conclusion, use a hard surface for this kind of project, no leather, no bumpy materials.
I was recently gifted a set of wind chimes for my birthday. And I was so excited because if you can believe it, I have actually never had a set of wind chimes before. However, the wind chimes did not really match the decor I already have for my porch. So there went my little creative brain again for this easy wind chime refresh project. I thought that with a little spray paint and TLC, I could really make these into something special for my porch. And I am so happy with how they turned out! Keep on reading to see just how simple and easy it is to make!
I'm always, yes always on the prowl for picture frames and I've never been stumped yet on what to recreate with them! They are so much fun to work with and the ideas are endless but this might be a "new" idea?? I was inspired by the obsession everyone has to have greenery in their homes nowadays either real or faux. The cactus craze has been one of them leading me to creating a faux succulent garden, Hens and Chicks in a picture frame!!
This wall hanging is a fun project that can to add color and cheer around your home. The basic form is created with sticks or dowels and can be enhanced with wrapped yarn or twine. As long as you have access to sticks, this mandala can be a great addition to your house for little to no cost!
I have wanted to add some warmth and texture to this room. I love the paint and trim color but wanted to give the space more visual interest and a cottage/coastal feel. Then last week, we were adding some replacement pieces of cedar shake shingles to the outside, and a lightbulb went off! If I used it as an accent wall, it would look pretty and would add the perfect amount of cottage vibe.
I've recently started making my own handles for my resin trays but it got me thinking, I could go one step further and apply my process to cupboard handles and knobs.Keep reading to learn how you can add some fun and colour to your furniture and much more!
I am so excited to share these DIY hexagon shelves that I’ve been in love with & have seen all over the internet but anything I could buy wasn’t deep enough for me. I wanted to be able to stick 6″ pots into each nook, so I came up with the idea of these oversized hexagon shelves so I’d have an excuse to buy more plants! LOL
