Trampoline in ground

I have seen several trampolines at ground level because someone has dug a pit underneath it. I am considering doing this with mine, and was wondering if anyone knows of any GOOD reasons why I shouldn't. Water build up and drainage is not a problem.

I got a tramp for my girls last year, and we pull the deck net off for the winter. Stringing it up in the spring is not too tough with it waist high. but trying to do that at ground level would much harder. If you just have a hole in the ground the soil along the edges will eventually begin to crumble into the hole...so Ideally having some type of retaining wall all around would be best. Using pavestone cement blocks would allow for an easy round shape if yours is round like ours. But the work and expense for a project like this seems a bit over the top for the added benefits.
