Where are you, Nora? Is this plant hardy outdoors?
@Nora Rispin This is Bloody Sorrel/Red Dock (rumen sanguineus ssp. sanguineus). I have it in my herb garden...it is hardy to my zone at least...zone 4...though I have read that is only hardy to zone 6. I have had it for at least 5 years. It is a culinary/medicinal herb...it has a very tangy taste.
I live in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. And yes this plant is hardy outdoors, It grows very well.
Thank you Ursula.
I'm with Ursula - it's sorrel - great to use in salads and soups.
It looks like sorrel to me too.
Hey that is the plant I gave you...glad to see it is doing so well.
Sorrell self-seeds, so you should have new plants every spring.
Its a nice compact plant. Will have to buy seeds and plant some.
By the way seed catalogues have been flowing in. Helps to pass the winter when you are stuck in the snow belt.
