DIY: Barn Wood Shutters From Pallets

Crave the look of rustic barn wood décor, but lack the barn? Feast your eyes on these shutters made from old weathered pallets.

Both my mom and my husband thought I was nuts when I went ga-ga over some old beat up pallets in a heap in an empty lot for FREE. After driving my neighbors nuts hammering them apart, I came up with these awesome rustic shutters.
Do-It-Yourself projects are the best kind there are. Making something from whatever I have on hand, or found junking or, better yet, given to me free, is so rewarding. I'd like to share with you how to make rustic barn wood shutters for the interior of your home (or exterior too!).
Time: 2 Hours Difficulty: Easy
Not sure how to get the rustic farmhouse feel in your home? Add these shutters!
Simple instructions and basic materials and tools are all you need.
Made from pallets with some rusty crusty hinges, and the best part is that it was made by YOU!

So glad I found this!! I was considering exterior shutters made from pallets but wasn't sure how they would look. After seeing this (although they are interior) I believe I will give it a try and see what I come up with!!!

    • Go for it, @Cindy! We are going to be building some for our exterior too. As soon as the snow stops flying!! :o)

our son did some thing similar only with wooden pallets, i really like your to. He used the pallets to make book cases, & over the window valence.

    • @Mary Sweet, sounds like he's handy! I also made valances with barn wood on those same windows using a bed skirt and posted about it too! :o)

Nice idea, I think I am going to try this out soon enough. The end result looks lovely and it does not look anything like what you started with. Thank you so much for sharing the lovely idea and detailed information with all of us here. http://bit.ly/1u643Yy
