DIY: Barn Wood Shutters From Pallets

Crave the look of rustic barn wood décor, but lack the barn? Feast your eyes on these shutters made from old weathered pallets. Both my mom and my husband thought I was nuts when I went ga-ga over some old beat up pallets in a heap in an empty lot for FREE. After driving my neighbors nuts hammering them apart, I came up with these awesome rustic shutters. Do-It-Yourself projects are the best kind there are. Making something from whatever I have on hand, or found junking or, better yet, given to me free, is so rewarding. I'd like to share with you how to make rustic barn wood shutters for the interior of your home (or exterior too!).

Not sure how to get the rustic farmhouse feel in your home? Add these shutters!

No. They are purely decorative. I doubt the rusty hinges would move anyway. Apparently Larissa doesn't need to cover the window for privacy, or we'd see curtains or blinds. But they are beautiful, aren't they?

Great idea, and you have used what look like equally aged working hinges, but why make the shutters narrower than the width of the windows? Can't they be both useful and practical as well as "chic" and "cute"?
