Hanging a chandelier

If the electrical outlet for a light is off center in a room, is it okay to drape the chain over to center the light (from the electric outlet)? Or is that funky? Thank you. S.

    Yes, the 70's look is "in!" I have a chain hanging from my ceiling light to outlet, looks great!!

    I had to do that too. I used white chain , (white ceiling) you do even pay any attention to it.

    It's up to you of course, but I had the same problem the builder put the outlet over to far and was not under my table. I could not stand it I have to say that I had it professionally moved and I am glad that I did it that way. It depends on your financial situation.

    You can swag it and use a ceiling medallion to disguise the fact. Run the cord under the medallion from the existing junction box to the center hole for the new hook.

    Usually the light is mounted to a rafter for support. You can install a brace between 2 rafters to center the fixture.
