What to make out of a very large cut glass plate?

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what I should do with an antique large (about 3 ft across) cut glass plate. Some of my ideas have been paint the cut edges underneath and make a table or hang on wall securely. I don't think I want it outside....Can you all share ideas of what you would do with it? Thanks.

I have a similar type plate and I'm planning on painting the back and hanging it. Mine has a base that indents so I am planning on putting some wire aroung it with a hanging loop. Mine is going outside on the wall of our garage.

Mine also has an indent and I thought about the wire around it also. What are you going to paint it with. I like this idea and thought about painting mine with some stained glass paint. I do not want mine outside as it was an inherited item from my momma. It would really look great in a window but I am so afraid it will somehow swing and break the window as it is so heavy.

Build a simple, sturdy base of wood and make a coffee table. Impervious to spills, and the edge will keep them on top. If you leave it clear, it will lighten the impact. The base could be painted any color that blends with your room.

glue a nice bowl on the bottom upside down and use for a pie plate or cake plate also a bird bath etc.

Thanks. I just wonder where I would keep something so large while storing it. I do not want it outside as it was inherited from my mother.

I'm painting mine with Fusion Mineral Paint, since it will be out side. If I were hanging it inside, I'd probably put it on a dark wall or hang it over a slightly larger dark velvet banner. Think about how diamonds look on velvet at the jeweler's.

Derry, please post pic when done. I will look for the paint today but may go stained glass paint for inside. Thanks for your great input.
