Share your favorite plants for bold foliage
Earlier this year I planted a large alocasia (Alocasia x Portora) in my back yard (see post here: http://www.hometalk.com/1004610/but-i-want-to-plant-it-now ), and it has already surpassed my expectations for a providing an exclamation point of bold foliage. I measured one leaf this morning at 45 x 28 inches! More and more I find myself drawn to plants that can make this kind of statement. Do you have plants you grow just for the impact of their foliage? What are some of your favorites?

Sia@South 47th on Aug 03, 2013@Douglas Hunt What a beautiful canopy!! When we get to the yard I can't wait to run some ideas by you.
Stephen Andrew on Aug 10, 2013Yes. I live in Ohio so I don't do much in the way of tropicals, but I do have a steep hillside where I can't mow that is packed with butterbur. It's native up here and has massive leaves and occasionally even thistle-like blooms.
