Down Home Southern Firepit

My son had the idea to build a firepit ... Little did I know how hard it would be (cause I had to upgrade it as we went along - of course!) nor how rewarding! My son and I spent a lot of hours together along with my handyman to get it done. I loved this time with my son before he headed to senior year of high school. Time goes fast. We have spent lots of hours around the pit and have had many parties as well. Fun project long after finished!

Mary Richard on Aug 06, 2013@Patricia Presto/On The Surface Do the ground bricks actually go under the fire pit or just abutt it?

Patricia Presto/On The Surface on Aug 06, 2013@Mary Richard We poured cement for ground of pit, surrounding it with fireproof bricking inside hole of pit (you ca see this if you enlarge your picture)...the pavers surrounded the cement (see wooden "set" ring around it). Then we built the stacked stone surround. so no "pavers" running underneath. I also bought a grate to put in pit at a stone yard..
