Rusty Old Metal Cabinet Turned Butcher Block Island

2 Weeks

It all started when I spotted an old rusted-out kitchen cabinet in a friend's pasture. I just had to have it. I knew with my (Honey's) help that this baby could be born again:)

The cabinet we found in a friend's pasture.
Yep, it has seen better days.
We used plywood that we already had to repair the back and bottom.
Plywood on the back. It helped to square and shore up the cabinet.
First coat of Kiltz.
I used Rust-Oleum Stainless Steel Paint on the metal and wood.

This is great. This coming Sunday I am taking a rented U--haul van to pick up a set of vintage kitchen cabinets. First they have a double drain-board sink! Then they are PINK! My nick name is pinky, my license plate is pinky, I have all kinds pink depression glass and pyrex. So you can imagine my delight! Of course my husband wants to paint them any color except pink. We will see.
