I need to level an a patio /path /gravel area what's the cheapest way?

at my rented property I have a patio but as it used to be a communal garden there is a concerted path that runs between it and the property and 2 gravel patches approx 6x4ft the other side. I want to make this whole area the same level to make it more functional. I estimate decking the area would cost £200-250 but I wondered if there is a cheaper / easier way like a resurfacing product. Also There are badgers and other wildlife nearby that could get under decking. There are around 2-3 inches difference overall. Any recommendations gratefully received

Could you just maybe use a gravel product and make some edging out of some tree material from the back area you mentioned?
